The BladderScan BVI 9400 and the FloPoint Elite uroflow system.

Managing patients with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) begins with a differential diagnosis; and quantifying BPH / LUTS via the AUA symptom index. This combination also may be useful to monitor the progress of pharmacotherapy.

Assess Urinary Retention

Assess Urinary Retention

BladderScan measures PVR.

Urinary retention, the inability or failure to empty the bladder completely, can be acute or chronic. Acute urinary retention is the complete inability to void, which may take hours to occur. The bladder must be drained or emptied immediately or it can lead to acute renal failure or bladder rupture.

Chronic urinary retention is the ongoing inability to void, which usually takes months to develop. The bladder becomes used to being stretched so that residents adapt to the condition and may not be aware of it.

Use of a BladderScan instrument to accurately measure a resident's bladder volume is quick and easy. Measurements can be done by staff and no sonographer is required. Exam results can be printed for physician review or exported to an EHR system.

Managing patients with urinary tract symptoms begins with a differential diagnosis. Evaluating symptoms such as incomplete emptying, straining, and stop-start urination can be achieved with a combination of portable ultrasound bladder volume measurement and a uroflow exam.

The FloPoint Elite Uroflow System measures and records a patient’s voiding pattern, allowing physicians to quickly assess the mechanics of urinary flow.

This in turn can help diagnose and treat the underlying urinary abnormalities. Exam results can be printed for physician review or exported to an EHR system.
